Searching for the ancestors

Ok so I have travelled to a small town outside of Buenos Aires capital but still inside the province to see if I can find information about long lost ancestors. The trail has come from granny Jennings side, her grandparents to be precise. He was a train inspector and she was a teacher. We believe they come from this town as their two children were born and baptised here. I am on the search for any information.
So when I arrived obviously checked in to the terrible hotel/cell/ possible ways to get an infection. But I am hardy and slightly enjoy the faulty towers style and feel right at home knowing I can blog about it afterwards....
After having a quick scout round town I found the public library. This room is crazy. Its a stunning old building, very French in style and in its full to the rafters with books and not in an orderly stunning library way in a crazy second hand bookshop, rat house feel. This meant finding the census impossible. What I did find with the help of all 4 librarians was huge dusty books of their newspapers all the way from 1880. I searched through but sadly to no avail. either the family were not catholic (which might have been a depending factor or registering births marriages and death in the local newspaper) or they were not from Mercedes town, or I am totally off clue. So however lovely it was spending the afternoon rustling through the newspapers with stunning adverts of lethal medicine and local tit bits I have not made any headway. But off to the Cathedral to see if they can help tomorrow. If a library doesn't have the paperwork I am hoping they might.
Today was topped off with the most immense storm. Lightning was constant, there was cloud forms like tornado's and it took the power out of the whole town and I am told of BA as well for the evening. Very eventful for the 4 hours I have been here so far!
Will keep updated with any more news
